Dr. Ralph Taggart - On Hundredth Anniversary of the Titanic"

The tragedy of the loss of the Titanic brought out the worst and the best of the men and women who faced death that fateful morning. It changed the world in a multitude of ways. The ramifications of the loss of this great ship still touch us a full century later.

As the RMS Titanic sailed into history in April of 1912, she represented a microcosm of Edwardian society. She was literally a "ship of dreams" that represented the best technology of the day. Unfortunately, fallible human beings both conceive and manage technology, often with unforeseen consequences. The tragedy of the loss of the Titanic brought out the worst and the best of the men and women who faced death that fateful morning and changed the world in a multitude of ways. The ramifications of the loss of this great ship still touch us a full century since what author Walter Lord aptly titled "A Night to Remember".

The public is welcome.
